Creating Metal Kimonos Using Wire Thrums

given by artist

Susan McGehee

9am-4pm Saturday, April 21,2018

Have you collected precious treasures that you would like to put to a creative use? Do you like the upcycle” approach to art?  Follow Susan McGehee on a creative journey that redefines fabric.

Using wire thrums from Susan McGehee’s woven wall pieces, you can attach your found bits and pieces to embellish bronze screening, then fold and shape to form a sculptural 12” x 12” wire and metal kimono.  Besides the screen, supplementary found items and wire will be provided in the kits.  The creative imagination comes from you.

Level of student expertise: No prior weaving experience necessary.

Maximum class size: 18

Cost: Members $80.00 (non-members $90.00) plus a kit fee of $16.00
